Submission Guidelines

Flora IP welcomes original and analytical essays on any topic around food, agriculture and related intellectual property rights. News, press releases, event updates and proposals for Flora IP-organised programmes or projects are also welcome.

  • Submissions should not exceed 2, 000 words without prior approval of the editors.
  • Insert working hyperlinks -not footnotes- for references.
  • Only original essays are published. The essays should not have been published elsewhere (except in exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the editors).
  • Publication of essays and other submissions will be subject to review and final approval of the editors. Publication is at the sole discretion of the editors. The editors reserve the right to accept or reject submissions and to delete any previously published material.
  • The editors and reviewers reserve the right to edit the submissions to correct grammar, punctuation or to revise the title, style and format of the posts in line with the editorial styles and standards of the blog.
  • British English and spellings should be adopted rather than American alternatives. For example, is rather than iz and yse rather than zye.
  • Please email essays -and other submissions- to: floraipeditors@gmail.com in Microsoft Word documents.
    • Provide the title of the essay, a short summary (2 – 3 lines) of the essay and a short bio of the author (up to 150 words).
    • Provide the author’s professional/institutional web page and LinkedIn/Instagram/Twitter names for dissemination.
    • Provide a high-resolution photograph of the author to be published with the post.
    • If available, provide photographs that aptly capture the blog post. This could be the author’s original photographs or copyright-free photographs (safe to use without requiring the permission of the artists).
    • Upon publication, the author owns the copyright for the post. However, upon submission for publication, the author grants Flora IP the rights to publish the post anywhere in the world, through any medium for the full term of the copyright. The author also agrees to public re-use of the published post under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC.BY-NC-SA 4.0)
    • For questions about the suitability of proposed topics, please send an outline to the editors in advance.

Comments

We invite readers to share comments on posts. All comments will be moderated by an editor before publication. Readers are required to offer constructive and respectful comments that address substantive issues raised in the posts. Flora IP reserves the right to delete comments that are inappropriate or offensive.
