Course Overview
Join us this summer for a transformative experience at the University of Aberdeen’s immersive Summer School. This one-week course is designed for final-year undergraduate students, postgraduates (PGTs & PGRs), and professionals in law, business, politics, marketing, or international relations. You will gain an in-depth overview of International Intellectual Property and Information Law (IIPIL), with a particular focus on professional communication in the context of emerging disputes, including the essential art of letter writing.
Course Content
Each day, you will engage in discussions with a hypothetical client, exploring a developing case scenario from multiple perspectives: litigation, commercial, and activist. The scenario will evolve throughout the week, offering you practical insights into real-world applications of IIPIL. Expert guest speakers from the legal profession will share their experiences, offering guidance on how they would approach the unfolding situation.
Participants will also have the opportunity to deliver oral presentations to a CEO, honing their skills in communication and professional presentation.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Understand key concepts within Intellectual Property and Information Law.
- Gain insight into litigation processes from commercial and activist viewpoints.
- Develop the skills to present confidently and authoritatively in front of a small audience.
- Improve your interpersonal skills through active participation in group work.
